We tried it: Does the makeup remover towel actually piece of work?

Final Updated: April 22, 2021

Practise makeup remover towels really work with just warm water — no cleansers? Is that even possible? Well, Grove writer, Carly Reynolds, tried it — and here'due south what she found out.

Makeup is part of my daily routine, but putting makeup on means that at the stop of the day, I accept to take that makeup dorsum off. I take long used cotton rounds and micellar water to wipe abroad the mean solar day's expect, only I've been trying to cutting back on waste — and those cotton rounds actually add up.

In an effort to make a more environmentally friendly and price-effective choice, I tried out the Superbloom Makeup Remover Towel, and I'1000 here to study the results.

The Superbloom Makeup Remover Towel claims to make easy piece of work of wiping away the makeup of the day — including your waterproof and smudge-proof varieties — without the demand for cleansers. This oblong, ultra-plush polyester towel is purportedly actress-gentle and highly effective. Information technology's trimmed with thin, super-soft piping to foreclose fraying, and it's machine washable, eliminating all of the waste associated with cotton rounds and wipes.

Outset, let's talk about initial impressions. The towel comes in an adorable box that cleverly resembles an eraser. The textile is sumptuously soft and not the least scrap scratchy. Even the piping around the perimeter is soft to the bear on. The towel is a keen size, with plenty of real estate to wipe your full face up. So far, I'm impressed.

Before: Feeling a petty skeptical

To be honest, I was pretty skeptical about the whole "no cleanser needed" thing — I'g not a big believer in magic — then when information technology was time to put this product to the exam, I really piled on the makeup, including my usual assuming eyeshadow with waterproof eyeliner and mascara that won't turn me into a raccoon later on a long day in the Florida rut and humidity (fifty-fifty my micellar h2o and cotton rounds don't fully remove this face up).

How do you lot employ makeup remover towels?

Using the makeup remover towel is super easy:

Footstep 1: Moisture the makeup remover towel with warm h2o.

Step 2: Gently wipe the towel over your face to lift makeup.

Pace iii: Continue with your usual skincare routine.

Afterward: The magic is existent!

And then I got the towel moisture — water tends to sit down on the surface of the fibers for a while, eventually dampening but non soaking information technology — and started by wiping off my concealer and foundation, which came off easily. And then, I moved on to my eyes. The eyeshadow wiped clean with minimal effort. It did accept multiple passes earlier all remnants of mascara and eyeliner were gone, but it worked beautifully — and without any skin irritation! The picture above shows my clean eye (my left middle) vs. my eye with full makeup (my right middle).

Not only did I love the experience, but my teen girls dear it, too. They're only settling into their own skincare routines, and this (magical?) towel ways they don't have to slather gross chemicals on their young, fresh faces.

Handwash vs machine-wash

One time all of my makeup was on the towel, I was a fiddling skeptical (again!) that it would come up make clean. Although it's machine washable, I don't do laundry every day, so I decided to just handwash the towel for side by side fourth dimension.

I used a very mild, organic soap handmade past my cousin, and believe it or not (believe information technology!) the towel came out but like my face — makeup-free! I toss it in the wash every week or and so for deep-cleaning (and hang it to dry,) and several weeks afterwards, it still looks new.

I plan on stocking upwardly on more of these makeup remover towels and then my daughters and I e'er have 1 on hand — and now I know what I'm giving all of my makeup-wearing friends and family members as gifts this year too.

So later using the makeup remover towel, will information technology become part of my daily skincare routine? Absolutely!

Not but was information technology luxuriously comfortable confronting my skin, but I love that it works with warm water lonely. Any dazzler routine that minimizes the number of bottles on the bath counter is a win in my book!

Is using a makeup remover towel a consummate skincare routine? Not at all, only it is a neat first pace for prepping your face for your usual skincare essentials — you'll still desire to stick with your deep-cleaning masks, exfoliating treatments, daily serums, and natural moisturizers also.
